The World Chilli Alliance is glad to inform all chilli lovers that the 5th International Chili Expo in Zunyi, Guizhou Province, will start on 18th August. Because of the global pandemic, the 2020 edition of the expo is moving online but not without the same spicy atmosphere which surrounds its participants every year.

We will certainly miss the bustle of the “Chili Town” and the omnipresent capsaicin which gets into the air, the close contact with supporters and friends, the excitement of people aroused by the sight of piles of chilli, the majesty of the Facing Heaven Chilli (Chao Tian Jiao) whose variety cultivated In Zunyi was ranked this year as the first of the top ten Chinese chilli pepper varieties, according to the evaluation conducted by a panel of experts selected by the China Vegetable Marketing Association.

The focus and dedication of Zunyi on chilli pepper and its related industry means a lot to us, therefore we are pleased to reconfirm our cooperation with the City and our efforts to raise awareness of its chlli culture. During the opening ceremony our Executive President Li Dejian will be invited to deliver a speech on this special occasion, while the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between Zunyi People’s Government and the World Chilli Alliance will be attended by our President for Europe Enzo Monaco, reaffirming  the title of Zunyi as World Chilli Capital for the second consecutive year. The online expo will be a chance for all its attendees to find new way of cooperation in the new global environment which is forcing everyone to give the best to be up to new challenges that we run up against on our ever-changing path.

We feel positive and we hope we could be able to transmit out optimism through our beloved chilli that is the main reason that makes this big event, that welcomes local and foreign people every year, exists.
